David (as in David and Goliath!) 'knew that each breakthrough would only come through intimacy with God and awareness of God's perfect timing.' David knew that when a breakthrough was needed that he had to inquire of God and seek His direction rather than respond to situations by himself (2 Samuel 5:19). Rather than repeat strategies used from the past for similar situations, he found out the strategy God wanted in this specific situation/time. (Leif Hetland)
