This week I've been doing some placement preparation and looking at typical speech and language development in children. It's amazing to think how much we know now compared to when we were born. We now have the capacity to speak and understand thousands upon thousands of words. It's incredible how the brain is able to hold so much information. It's not just words our brain remembers, but memories and linking spoken words into written form too, etc. It's amazing! Reason no. 364 :)

All my housemates have now moved in! They're all so lovely :) I think they'll be a nice group of people to live with this year. Reason no. 363 :)

Yesterday I went on the CU grub crawl for fresher's week. The food was great and it was amazing to see so many freshers who are Christians and checking out churches/ getting involved with the CU. Reason no. 362 :)

For my placement, I'm having to move to the Blackpool area for 4 days a week (otherwise the commute is ridiculous). At first I was really quite annoyed, but God's been reminding me that 'He works things together for good'. Plus, I've now booked my accommodation, which looks lovely :) Reason no. 360 :)

My house is opposite some amazing fields. It was such a  blessing to walk 2 minutes and end up in the middle of a field, with the sun shining and being surrounded by such a peaceful atmosphere. Reason no. 358 :)

Great first week in the house - it's been lovely living with this set of people. It will slightly change next week as one of the girls will move into her permanent house and another girl will move in. This house is so nice and homely :) Reason no. 357 :)

Yesterday a little girl ran over to me, around the corner from where I live. I'd never seen her before, but she came over and said :' you're really lovely'. How cute! Reason no. 354 :)

There's a great deal at the gym 2 mins from where I live this year. It's quite a bit cheaper than I was expecting. Reason no. 353 :)

Yesterday I finished my book: Elizabeth is missing. It was definitely a good piece of fiction. It definitely highlighted what living with dementia is like. The reader sees a constant stream of thoughts. She'll be mid-conversation with someone and forget what they're talking about. We see the confusion she feels. Yet we also see how people respond to dementia in the family. We see people who respond well and some who definitely don't handle dementia very well. It definitely requires a lot of patience to work with those with dementia. At the same time of highlighting what living with dementia is like, we also see a 60 year old mystery being solved. 

It was a really good read. Reason no. 352 :)

Today I heard some stories about what God's doing in Turkey. It's amazing how God places different talents and skills in people and uses them for His glory! God's using creative minded people: singers and dancers to reach Muslim populations :) Reason no. 348 :)

Yesterday I found out my placement for the year. It's just made my uni course a lot more real. For a month I'll be working with a speech and language therapist. Speech therapists work with a range of people from young to old, people with stutters to mental health issues to having had a stroke. This year I will mainly be with young children. It's not the nearest placement one could be placed on. I'll be travelling around 2 hours there and 2 hours back each day - that's a lot of travelling! Slightly nervous, but excited too! Just got to trust God with it all. After all, He is for me not against me and He'll be with me in the travelling and on placement. Reason no. 343 :)

I've just started reading a book called: 'Elizabeth is missing'. It's all about a lady developing dementia. It's really good so far and I'm actually learning stuff linked to my course at the same time. Reason no. 342 :)

He is a father who blesses. Blessing is taking something that's yours and bestowing it on someone else. He pours out blessings in abundance. He is not a stingy God.  He is not a God witholds goodness from us. He gives and He gives and He gives....again and again and again. Reason no. 340 :)

This summer I've been filling up an old art book with colour. Each double page is full of a different set of colours, patterns, paints, collages etc. Having the time to be creative has been amazing this summer. Plus, I love how this world is full of different colours and how they all come together. Reason no. 339 :)
