Reason no. 440...

Another poem by John Newton: How sweet the name of Jesus sounds...

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer's ear?
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
'Tis Manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

Dear name! The rock on which I build,
My Shield and Hiding-place;
My never-failing Treas'ry filled
With boundless stores of grace.

By thee my prayers acceptance gain
Although with sin defiled,
Satan accuses me in vain,
And I am owned a child.

Jesus, my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King;
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I'll praise Thee as I ought.

Till then I would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath;
And may the music of Thy name
Refresh my soul in death.

There's so much power in a name: to bring peace, to heal and to cast out fear. Reason no. 440 :)

Reason no. 439...

'Amazing grace how sweet the sound' the song of John Newton: once captain of a slave ship, later church leader/ poet. A transformation happened all because of one encounter with God. Reason no. 439 :)

Reason no. 438...

(The Master: a life of Jesus by John Pollock is a really good book for being reminded who Jesus is and what he's like. Here's a few thoughts I was reminded of:)

Jesus, a man who's character is so majestic, yet mysterious. He welcomes those around him to him - no one is too great or too much a sinner for him. He is approachable. He's gentle, yet strong. He carries a natural authority, that captivates those who surround him. Jesus teaches with simplicity, amazing those who hear his word. His compassion for people leads him to heal the sick, touch the unclean and cast out demons. There are crowds of people surrounding him, intrigued by who this man is.

A poem by John Newton: The Cross

In evil long I took delight,
Unawed by shame or fear,
Till a new object struck my sight,
And stopped my wild career.

I saw One hanging on a tree,
In agonies and blood;
He fixed His languid eyes on me,
As near His cross I stood.

Sure never till my latest breath,
Shall I forget that look!
It seemed to charge me with His death,
Though not a word He spoke.

A second look He gave, which said,
“I freely all forgive;
This blood is for thy ransom paid;
I die that thou mayest live.”

Thus while His death my sin displays
In all its blackest hue,
Such is the mystery of grace,
It seals my pardon too!

Thank you God that You forgive me for everything, that Your blood is my ransom and that through Your death I now live. Thank you for the mystery of Your sweet grace! Reason no. 437 :)

Reason no. 436...

Thank you God that You are trustworthy. Time after time You have shown that You can be trusted. Throughout history, in the Bible and in my life too. You do not abandon us, rather Your perfect love is with us. Deuteronomy 32:4...
'He is the Rock, His works are perfect,
and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
    upright and just is He.'

Thank you God that this is who You are!

I love how during the day the sun is shining and in the night the moon is out. Night and day are a beautiful contrast. Reason no. 435 :)

A lovely Christmas with my family, great presents, a nice walk in the woods, good Christmas-y TV and delicious food! Reason no. 434 :)

Reason no. 433...

Thank you for Christmas, for sending Jesus, for making a way for You and sinners to be reconciled. Thank you that You chose to live with us on Earth, that You're not a distant God and You know what struggles we face. Reason no. 433 :)

Reason no. 432...

Thank You God for prayer. Thank You that we can talk to You and You listen. Thank You that You love us coming before You and spending time with You. Thank you that even when I haven't prayed to You in days, You still love me and listen to me. Thank You that You teach us how to pray:

This, then, is how you should pray:
"Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."

I love poetry...words are so powerful. Here's one by Martin Luther:
Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My warrant is the Word of God–
Naught else is worth believing.

Though all my heart should feel condemned
For want of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart
Whose Word cannot be broken.

I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever,
For, though all things shall pass away,
HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!

I really like the road we live down. We have a really nice bunch of people around us. Last weekend we had some of them over and enjoyed Christmas nibbles whilst getting to know them a bit better. I'm pleased to be staying in the same place next year and that some of them will be staying too. Reason no. 430 :)

Reason no. 429...

Yesterday was my last day in uni for the semester. As a course we all wore our Christmas jumpers and raised some money for the Huntington's Disease Association. The lecturer joined in too and brought in some mince pies for us all too. It was such a lovely way to end the semester. Reason no. 429 :)

Reason no. 428...

The carol concert was amazing yesterday! It was joint with the Royal Collage of Northern Music and they were soooooo talented :) They had an amazing orchestra and choir. I've never been to a performance like it before! Reason no. 428 :)

Reason no. 427...

This week I've been reading stories of people getting saved at the Christian Union's, in the UK, in their Christmas Carol Services. Tomorrow night, the Christian Unions around Manchester are joining together and putting on a Carol Concert, followed by a talk. If God can do it in universities around the UK, then He can definitely do it in Manchester too! Reason no. 427 :)

Reason no. 426...

On Sunday, I heard story after story of God's goodness, of God breaking in and answering prayer. It's definitely what I needed to hear. Testimony definitely stirs faith and brings a reminder of just who God is and what He's about! The fact that He cares about the things in our lives, however big or small is amazing. Reason no. 426 :)

Reason no. 425...

This weekend I'm heading home for Christmas! It's been 3 months since I've last been home. Can't wait to have a break (of sorts - I've still got study to do!) but just have a proper rest and spend time with my family! Reason no. 425 :)

Reason no. 424...

Recently there has been a lot of horrible stuff happening in an area near where I live. It's been reported that within this semester alone there have been over 30 sexual assaults. Yesterday I saw a petition going round to see the area made more safe. It's great that people are taking action, something definitely needs to change. This morning God reminded me that the area just needs Him. Increasing the police force in the area might make a small difference, but bring Him in and the area will be completely transformed. It's largely a student population there...imagine revival coming and a new generation standing up in the name of Jesus. When God breaks in, salvation comes, alcohol and drug addiction are broken off and the streets are safe. As I stepped out of the house this morning, it was wet and the sky was grey, but as I looked over the field and looked at the area where I'd been praying about a sunset was over it and just over that area alone. I totally believe God was highlighting that area and He has not given up on it. There is hope! Reason no. 424 :)

Reason no. 423...

On Sunday, my church back home saw God heal 5 people and 5 people become a Christian!! Amazing what God is doing :) Reason no. 423 :)

Today I traveled on a train to Disley and it was definitely the best train ride I've ever been on! They had decorated the carriages with decorations and people were dressed up as elves and Santa. They also gave out free mince pies, chocolate coins and a bottle of water! It was so nice :) Reason no. 422 :)

This week, I had the opportunity to listen to a guy who stammers and a lady with a voice disorder. It was so helpful having them come into uni and share their experiences. Reason no. 421 :)

'Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.'
Matthew 11:28

A promise that is of peace and restoration. In the midst of stress, fear and insecurity I come and drop it at your feet, knowing that you will restore, for You are the God of rest. In my weakness and tiredness, You are strong! Reason no. 420 :)

Reason no. 419...

Yesterday I was reminded that when 2 or 3 gather in Jesus' name, Jesus is there too. That means in my house Jesus is here, when I'm back home, Jesus is there. He has blessed me with putting me around people who love Him! Reason no. 419 :)

Reason no. 418...

Having walked into a room yesterday and not knowing anyone, a lady comes over to me and asks if I want to make a friend and sit with her. That takes boldness and reflects kindness too :) Reason no. 418 :)

Reason no. 415...

Today I did my presentation. It's great to get it out of the way so I can now focus on some of my other work. It went well and I got some positive feedback. Reason no. 415 :)

Reason no. 414...

Today I have a presentation, which I'm not really looking forward to. I don't really like standing in front of people for 10 minutes and then being asked questions for another 5 minutes. For me, presentations are something that I fear...the fear of forgetting what I'm talking about, the fear of not saying what is right, the fear of people judging me. Yet despite the fear, deep down I know I have no  reason to fear. He is God and He is good. He's the One who goes before me and loves me unconditionally. The way God sees me is not based on my successes in my degree. His grace abounds in my weakness. He is my safety and my refuge. He's the King on the throne and He's looking after me. Reason no. 414 :)

Reason no. 413...

Yesterday I went to an evening which had churches around Manchester united together, all wanting to reach the students of Manchester and see God's love displayed to these people. Here's some of the things that I took away from this evening:
- We can't just assume that other churches are reaching the 18-30 age bracket (or wherever there's a gap in the church).
-We are Christ's ambassadors...we are acting on behalf of the King in the places we are now.
-I am a new creation and there's no way of going back to my old self.
-God wanted to be my/your friend before I/you even considered being His friend.
-Amazing story of how God kept creating God encounters within the space of a couple of days with the same person...God knows our days and where we are.
-Growing up in a Christian family is an amazing story of God's grace in my life.

Reason no. 412...

Today I skidded over at lunchtime...I may ache quite a bit now, but it's reminded me that I haven't fallen over in years and it could have been so easy to have broken something or end up cover in bruises. God's protection over me day in and day out is yet another reason. Reason no. 412 :)

Reason no. 411...

New poem from the weekend...it's all about His Grace!

Grace like a waterfall,
a well spring that never runs dry.
Unending, unrelenting,
never ceasing to pursue me.
Once caught in the mud and mire,
entangled by my sin and shame.
You stretched your arm to me
and pulled me into your embrace.
Grace like an avalanche -
so thick, so deep and so pure.
I'm surrounded by your mercies -
they're new every morning.
Regardless of all I've ever done
Your grace abounds in me.

Reason no. 411 :)

Reason no. 410...

'Grace is the opposite of karma. Karma is: do good and good things happen to you, do bad and bad things happen to you. Grace is: you do good, you do bad, good things happen to you.'

Reason no. 409...

On the weekend away we spent time reading the book of Jonah. This book is amazing for displaying God's outrageous grace on an individual and an entire city. God sees a huge city: Ninevah and wants to bring redemption. He sees their wickedness yet that does not stop Him loving and pouring His grace over them. He brings about revival using just one man. The man God uses is far from perfect. After God tells him what He wants Jonah to do, Jonah buys a ticket in the opposite direction - a place that is not Ninevah. Despite Jonah running from God, God uses his mistake and gives him a second chance. In the belly of a fish Jonah has a fresh revelation of the grace of God. A grace that's so amazing, yet so undeserving. Having grasped God's grace towards him, revival came and a great city was turned towards God. Reason no. 409 :)

Reason no. 408...

Just got back from the weekend away with the Christian Union. It was a really good time with a lovely bunch of people, listened to some great talks from the book of Jonah and was reminded of God's grace. We went into the countryside, had a bonfire and ate some amazing food. One good weekend: Reason no. 408 :)

Yesterday I went to a quiz hosted by Anne Hegerty (the lady in 'The Chase'). It was a really good evening! Reason no. 407 :)

Reason no. 406...

The NHS is great! There's so many things that it does really well. Today I had a talk from a patient who had a hemorrhage in her brain several years ago. She reminded us that if she had the incident in another country she would have had a completely different experience and the outcome could have been very different. It's great how it provides a health care for all. Reason no. 406 :)

Reason no. 405...

This week I went to CU and the person who spoke was a really gifted bible teacher. He spoke on Ephesians 5. The passage talks a lot about sexual immorality. He reminded us that we are probably all sexually immoral. In the passage it says: 'among you there must not even be a hint of sexual immorality...' and reminded us what that actually looks like in our lives. But, at the same time it's not all bleak for us, for He has made us a holy people. How amazing that He has transformed us from where we once were. It also says that we were once darkness but now we are light! Reason no. 405 :)

I love Manchester. Apparently it's the 3rd most diverse city in the world, with 200 languages being spoken among its population. Reason no. 402 :)

Reason no. 401...

He is the Lord of the Sabbath. In Him there is rest. Thank you God that you model rest. When He created the world, He stopped on the 7th day - not because of tiredness, but because His creation was good and He enjoyed all that He had made :) Reason no. 401 :)

Reason no. 400...

Thank you God that I do need to fear failure. Why? Because in Jesus there is no failure. In Him I am a success. Reason no. 400 :)

Reason no. 399...

This evening I watched the film: 'Chariots of fire'. It's a film about Eric Liddell who was an athlete back in the 1920's and competed in the 1924 Olympics. Eric loved God and refused to run in the Olympics on the Sabbath day. Instead he entered a different race - one that he had not trained for. One thing that God reminded me whilst watching the film was that:' Those that honor God, He will honor.' Eric put God first, he put him above the thing he loved to do (running), he put Him above his country and the pressure those around him placed on him to compete. Eric honored God and as a result God honored him. In the end Eric won the race he entered. Eric pursued running, the thing God called him to do, which gave Him pleasure.

I want to be someone who will honor God in everything I do, who will pursue the things God's called me to do. Reason no. 399 :)

Really love learning what I'm learning on my course at the moment. It's so good to have lecturers who are really passionate about their subject. Hearing their stories with different clients, gives me confidence that where I am is where God has called me to be. Reason no. 397 :)

Reason no. 396...

Just watched: 'Heaven is for Real'...the film is done really well and I think it's really good for getting you to dream for heaven, reminding you that more is to come and God's heart for children. God's chooses to speak and reveal himself to kids and use them. Imagine having a generation of kids who have caught something of God and His kingdom and carrying that through the years ahead, passing it onto the generations to follow. Reason no. 396 :)

Tomorrow I'm off to London for the day! I'm really looking forward to seeing my family and celebrating my and my sister's birthday. On Monday it was my 21st and next week it's Esther's 18th :) Yay! Reason no. 376...

This week God has really reminded me of just how blessed I am by Him. I read this quote at the beginning of the week:

'Entitlement is based on the idea that 'I deserve' something. Gratitude is based on the fact I don't deserve anything.'

I don't deserve anything. I can so easily go through the week thinking that the air I'm breathing, having a good night sleep, having a good day, having friends, having a roof over my head, being able to eat food, have money in my pocket, etc. are all something I'm entitled too, but actually it's all something I have no right to. God's good to me. He's given me more than I need. Thank you! Reason no. 376 :)

Having had a really bad throat and sounding very croaky on the Monday, the hotel staff gave me loads of little pots of honey to put in hot water. Little things like that are so nice and show they care. Reason no. 375 :)

Reason no. 374...

Whilst on placement I'm currently staying in a 4* hotel mid-week. The hotel is lovely and I've met some really interesting people on holiday or here for business. I've eaten some very nice cooked breakfasts here too! It's great that I'm able to claim back the money for my temporary accommodation and I'm not having to commute hours upon hours as I was originally thinking I'd have to. Reason no. 374 :)

Reason no. 373...

Currently on placement and just learning so much on the job. I'm learning so much that I wouldn't have learnt being stuck in a lecture theatre. I'm grateful for having encouraging clinical educators too :) Reason no. 373 :)

Reason no. 372...

Having such amazing friends and being able to spend evenings playing games! Having ordered a game one evening it arrived 2 days later and being able to enjoy it that evening was great :) Reason no. 372 :)

An amazing quote by C.S. Lewis:

'God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. He himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn on, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on.'

Reason no. 364...

This week I've been doing some placement preparation and looking at typical speech and language development in children. It's amazing to think how much we know now compared to when we were born. We now have the capacity to speak and understand thousands upon thousands of words. It's incredible how the brain is able to hold so much information. It's not just words our brain remembers, but memories and linking spoken words into written form too, etc. It's amazing! Reason no. 364 :)

Reason no. 363...

Reason no. 360...

For my placement, I'm having to move to the Blackpool area for 4 days a week (otherwise the commute is ridiculous). At first I was really quite annoyed, but God's been reminding me that 'He works things together for good'. Plus, I've now booked my accommodation, which looks lovely :) Reason no. 360 :)

Yesterday I finished my book: Elizabeth is missing. It was definitely a good piece of fiction. It definitely highlighted what living with dementia is like. The reader sees a constant stream of thoughts. She'll be mid-conversation with someone and forget what they're talking about. We see the confusion she feels. Yet we also see how people respond to dementia in the family. We see people who respond well and some who definitely don't handle dementia very well. It definitely requires a lot of patience to work with those with dementia. At the same time of highlighting what living with dementia is like, we also see a 60 year old mystery being solved.
It was a really good read. Reason no. 352 :)

I've done nothing. He's done it all. I was dead. He made me alive. I made no sign of coming to Him. He changed my heart. I was lost. He found me. I was broken. He's made me whole. My life was full of darkness, sin and shame. His light broke in. His death dealt with my sin. He washed away every transgression - as far as the east is from the west. He's forgiven me. I am loved by Him. How could I not be amazed by Him? Reason no. 351 :)

Yesterday I found out my placement for the year. It's just made my uni course a lot more real. For a month I'll be working with a speech and language therapist. Speech therapists work with a range of people from young to old, people with stutters to mental health issues to having had a stroke. This year I will mainly be with young children. It's not the nearest placement one could be placed on. I'll be travelling around 2 hours there and 2 hours back each day - that's a lot of travelling! Slightly nervous, but excited too! Just got to trust God with it all. After all, He is for me not against me and He'll be with me in the travelling and on placement. Reason no. 343 :)

God stands through the ages, going from one generation to another. He never changes. He's the same God of Noah and Abraham as to Mary and Paul. He's the same God today.

Reason no. 329...

These past couple of weeks I've read several books, which is huge for me as I very rarely ever read. One of the books was set 40 years after Jesus was crucified. It was amazing to get a picture of what it was like to live in the early church, in a place that totally rejected God, yet the church is beginning to grow. This is all set around the time some of the New Testament is being written. To read about the strength of people's faith as they face being thrown in the lion's den and yet remain at total peace is so challenging. Through reading the book God's totally given me a better perspective of the bible and what kind of situations Paul's letters are being written into. Reason no. 329 :)

This photo reminds me of a line in a song: 'The cross stands above it all...' Jesus has triumphed over death and sin. He's alive, He's reigning and He's victorious. The amazing thing is that includes the situations we face too. Reason no. 328 :)

Creation displays the glory of God. He's the Creator and His creation points to Him. The display of His beauty is incredible. Reason no. 318...

On Friday, I headed back home for a day or 2, which was lovely. A few of my favorite little things:  my sister doing some henna for me. along with my nails (- she's so arty/ creative!), just sitting down and watching TV/ a dvd as a family and having a lasagna and cooked breakfast (- I love food)! Reason no. 318 :)

Reason no. 317...

Today I found a little note I hid in the room I'm staying in Broadstairs. (I also hid a couple in my room in Whitworth, back in Manchester.) I can't wait for someone to find them. A little bit of encouragement for when you move to a new place is always good! Reason no. 317 :)

Reason no. 316...

Slightly sad to not be heading to Newday tomorrow, but at the same time I'm excited to get one extra week working at the school! I can't wait to hear what God's going to do over this week. I'm expectant of huge things because He's a God who exceeds expectations. Prayers have been prayed for the week and people have partnered with the living God - so this week is going to be huge! One thing that totally blew me away last year, was just how much God loves His people and how He removed the scars of a girl who once self-harmed. He loves. He cares. He's so good!  Reason no. 316 :)

Reason no. 315...

The other week I was over at Canterbury Cathedral. It's amazing to think that over 100's and 100's of years people have gathered to worship God there. God's unchanging and His worshipers are still gathering together. The fact that God has spoken to people there and He's still speaking to people there is incredible. Reason no. 315 :)

Reason no. 314...

The opportunity to find out more about different cultures has been amazing these past 3 weeks. This week I've spent time with the Japanese students - their culture of honor is incredible. Thinking about it now, my mind is blown by how well they honor one another. For example, I was starting to put a room back in place after a disco, so moving loads of tables and chairs, some come over and just offer their help, another teacher sees and asks more students and they immediately come - no complaining. When they see you, the slight bow of the head just shows respect and that they see the value of the person. Actions definitely speak so much louder than words. I've also spent time with a group of Italians. They're such great fun, so sociable and friendly. The fact that they'll talk to anyone and greet everyone is so lovely. At the same time they're really encouraging too. What an amazing privilege to watch all these cultures come together. Reason no. 314 :)

Reason no. 313...

Thank you God for this job! Yes at times I moan and get stressed by little things that may have happened, but God's been sooooo good. Spending time with international students makes me so happy! Through this job God's renewed my passion for languages (and reminded me of dreams He's put in me and words He spoke years ago). Plus, He's reminded me of His heart for the nations. His love for His people goes beyond England. Reason no. 313 :)

Reason no. 312...

Today God reminded me loads about the Sabbath day and the importance of rest. Sometimes it's so easy to go 7 days, then go the next 7 days without truly resting. But in the bible we discover that: rest was important to God. As a good Father does, He modeled what He wanted us to do. Right at the beginning, God works 6 days and rests on the 7th. A day is 24 hours. He doesn't want us to simply take 3 hours here 2 hours there. The Sabbath day is holy. It's a day set a part for Him (- so not just sat in front of the TV!). It's not only something God modeled, but something He commanded us to do too. His commandments are for our good - it's what is best for us....Thank you God that you put rest on our agenda. Reason no. 312 :)

Reason no. 311...

Today I ventured over to Canterbury and went along to City Church. It was  lovely to see a couple of old friends from Impact last year. They're both such happy, smiley, friendly people! Reason no. 311 :)

This job is such a blessing! I love being with the international students - spending time with them is a reminder of God's heart for the nations and the passions He's put in me. I've also realized that I enjoy working alongside teenagers/ doing youth work. Just being able to run and plan art and craft activities is amazing too. Thank you God for providing this job! If you asked me on the first couple of days of arriving in Broadstairs I seriously doubted I was in a job I'd enjoy - but He's definitely reminded me that I can trust Him and He won't let me down! It's really interesting coming back home and walking down the streets near my house. It's so different to being in Manchester. As soon as I walked out of my halls this year I was surrounded by students. Being back home means I now feel quite old, I'm constantly passing kids finishing school. Manchester and my home town are 2 very different places, one being filled with students and the other filled with families. It's nice living in 2 different settings, but I've definitely learnt that I prefer living in a city! My new favorite song: the lyrics are great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGe6ABM1tU0

In every season, in every change

You are near

In every sorrow,
You are my strength
You are near

A peace in the storm

Your voice I will follow
In weakness I rise
Remembering You hold world

I’m holding on to hope

I’m holding on to grace
I’m fully letting go
I’m surrendered to Your ways

The anchor for my soul

Father You will never change

I love You, I love You

My great Redeemer,

My constant Friend
You are near
My faithful Father,
You took me in
You are near

I will remember Your promise forever

My Strength, my Defender
I can count on You
You are my Savior, My Hope and my Shelter
Your love is forever
I can count on You

There's so many reasons I'm grateful for the halls I've ended up in this year:
1) The location is great! A 5 minute walk from uni and lots of little food shops. It's over the road from a park too!
2) Everyone thinks it's weird me saying this but...The overall design of the buildings is great - they're like giant toblerones! (The interior design is maybe not the best i.e. no windows in the kitchen, but the outer appearance is interesting!)
3) There's a gym on site and I only had to pay £10 for the year!
4) As I wonder around outside I always feel like I'm on holiday in some kind of resort!
5) My room backs onto some nice green space and trees, which is fab seeing as I'm pretty much in the city center!
And the list could go on! Reason no. 270 :)

It's great how my church in Manchester runs a coffee shop (the Anchor) - it's such a great place to sit and revise and the people are so nice there too :) Reason no. 266 :)

Reason no. 265...

Box of Broadcast has got to be a reason!! It's great to have access to soooo many films (plus it's totally legal and free!) - all you need is your university login details. These past couple of weeks I've been making the most of it! Reason no. 265 :)

Reason no. 264...

This week, after a couple of talks I listened to, I've been thinking a lot about 'what legacy I want leave behind for the generation after me' and what I want to see my kids doing/believing and what I want to see the society around me to look like. It's really interesting to think about. I started writing a list:
-I want to see my children know their identity inside out - who they are in Christ, how loved they are and their AMAZING inheritance in Him.
-I want them to have the faith to see the impossible to happen, when they lay hands on the sick Jesus is in them and He will make them well.
-I want them to dream dreams in Him and know that nothing is too big for Him.
-I want them to have the boldness to pray big prayers and to know that God is for them.
- I want them to know that they are world changers and community influencers - why? Becuase He is in them and that's what He does!!
-I want them to love radically, but out of place of overflow from knowing just how loved they are.
...and the list goes on!
But, to reach that place it needs people to model it, and that includes me! How are people going to reach that place? Not through striving, just through more time with Him! Looking at my life right now I think I'm in a very good season to start practicing!! Reason no. 264 :)

Reason no. 263...

It's great to live in a country where I get to have the freedom and the opportunity to have an impact in the society...today was voting day and I exercised my right!! Yay!!! Reason no. 263 :)

Reason no. 262...

The little question has got me thinking for the past couple of weeks...

'If you couldn't fail, what would you do?'

It's really interesting. If failure wasn't on the radar I think you'd be prepared to do absolutely anything. Fear of failure definitely has a much greater impact than we necessarily realize. But the fact is that we're with an incredible God, who meets our needs, loves us, gives us the strength, who's given dreams and visions and enables us to do the things He's called us to. If we're with God and doing what He's called us to, failure is not going to be an option! Reason no. 262 :)

Reason no. 261...

Today I made it to my occupational health appointment. This may sound small, but it was huge for me. It was so important I made it to get this jab as otherwise it could jeopardize my placement in September. I had booked one a few weeks ago, but I totally forgot about it and ended up missing it. Then throughout this week I kept forgetting about it again, until the night before! Anyway I made it! Reason no. 261 :)

Reason no. 260...

Yesterday I sat my anatomy and physiology exam, which means one down, one to go! It wasn't dreadful and I'm confident I passed. I'm so grateful for God's goodness throughout this revision season and just how chilled it's been.  My next exam is on the 3rd June. Reason no. 260 :)

Reason no. 259...

Another situation that made me smile was when I was walking through my halls. As I looked across to the other side one of the cleaners was using an old bendy pipe as a skipping rope! I love watching people smiling, laughing and enjoying life - especially when they're just by themselves. It shows their joy/happiness is much deeper than being dependent on who they're spending their time with! Reason no. 259 :)

Reason no. 258...

Yesterday as I was sitting outside a random person goes and hides behind a tree for 5 minutes. All of a sudden he jumped out in front of his friend who was laughing in hysterics! This whole situation made me laugh and put a smile on my face!! Reason no. 258 :)

Reason no. 257...

This week I found an old bank account I had forgot about and thought it must have been completely empty...BUT, it actually had £30 in! What a great find!! Reason no. 257 :)

Reason no. 256...

The weather has been gorgeous!! I had a games evening outside with some lovely friends and yesterday I was able to sit outside and revise with a couple of friends. The combination of good weather and nice people is great! Reason no. 256 :)

Reason no. 255...

Today I had my last tutorial and last lecture of the year! I can't believe all that remains for first year is just 1 presentation and 2 exams - it's flown by and has been so good. Reason no. 255 :)

Reason no. 254...

Read this quote today and it's sooooo true, but so easy to forget and get things out of perspective!

"Life is short. Heaven is long. Make today count."

Reason no. 254 :)

Reason no. 253...

This week I've rediscovered how much fun it is to build things out of cards and jenga pieces etc...Reason no. 253 :)

Reason no. 252...

This weekend I escaped from Manchester for the day and went to Wales with Reach (student group from church). It was so much fun! We climbed a giant hill - maybe a mountain?! Then afterwards we had a BBQ  too. It was a great day out with some lovely people :) Reason no. 252 :)

Reason no. 251...

As I was sitting in the library today I found a cute little stick-man drawing on the table. It may be graffiti,  but it definitely made me smile! Reason no. 251 :)

Reason no. 250...

Today I was thinking back to the story I heard yesterday: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=617911648293025&set=vb.203233683094159&type=3&theater and I'm just so amazed and in awe of God's goodness. God totally loves His people and He is faithful to His word. He knows our needs and satisfies them. When we call on Him, He answers. His timing is perfect. I've been thinking about this story on and off all morning and I'm just soooo amazed. That's a story that happened around Bedford area but God can so do the same here in Manchester (or wherever you live) and with you and me!! Reason no. 250 :)

Reason no. 249...

There's so many squirrels running around outside - they're so cute! It always makes me forget that I'm in the middle of the city when I see them all! Reason no. 249 :)

Reason no. 248...

I got my assignment back for linguistics and phonetics back and managed to get a 2:1 - so happy and encouraged. It was definitely a struggle whilst completing it, but got there in the end. Reason no. 248 :)

Reason no. 247...

Revision was non-existent today...but in my anatomy tutorial I actually knew some of the answers!! For the past few months I've gone in and been clueless about what they've been talking about - my revision has been paying off and it's slowly coming together in time for the exams! Reason no. 247 :)

Reason no. 246...

This story is amazing - hopefully the link works (-  you might need to log into facebook to watch it):  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=617911648293025&set=vb.203233683094159&type=3&theater
God is incredible!!!! Reason no. 246 :)

Reason no. 245...

So exciting how posting stuff online reaches people from around the world - looking through the stats of this blog, people in Brazil, Turkey Latvia, Malaysia, Serbia, Vietnam, Denmark etc have clicked onto it! The internet is amazing!! Reason no. 245 :)

Reason no. 244...

'Everything was created through him; nothing - not one thing! - came into being without him.'

It ALL (including me) begins with Him - the designer, the creator.

Reason no. 242 :)

Reason no. 243...

When Jesus was at the well with the Samaritan woman, he said:

'Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst - not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.'

There's abundance and richness to be had - so today that is what I'm going to declare over my life in His name. When He speaks, He is faithful to His word. Reason no. 243 :)

Reason no. 242...

This week I've managed to go to the gym really regularly! It's so nice to have one on site - just a 3 minute walk away. It's great that I only had to spend £10 for the whole year to use it too. Reason no. 242 :)

Reason no. 241...

A few days ago I put out a few little 'treasures' around my halls of residence. Wrapped in tissue paper were 3 little chocolates and a note of encouragement (some had a challenge too). 2 people got back to me and what they shared was really encouraging! It was so worth the time and God definitely allowed the right people to find them! Reason no. 241 :)

Sitting inside in the middle of a thunderstorm and watching/listening to it from my warm bedroom! The power and amount of water falling is incredible. Reason no. 240 :)

Reason no. 239...

Colour is something that puts a smile on my face! For me it represents God releasing joy :) This week I've spent several hours just doing painting and collage! Reason no. 239 :)

Reason no. 238...

This week I've been really productive in beginning revision. Exams are still a few weeks away but since I've been very unproductive the rest of the semester I've decided to start now so I'm not in a manic stress a week before! As I go through it I'm finding a fresh joy in my course and what God's called me into. I'm excited with the different groups of people I could be working with in the future and the potential for God to do so much in those areas. Today I'm grateful for the fresh passion God has given me for the course - definitely important for the exam build-up! Reason no. 238 :)

Reason no. 237...

This week I've been back in lectures and I'm finding it soooo interesting. We looked at rules of conversation in linguistics & phonetics. It's fascinating learning about stuff we all do automatically, for example with use of eye contact in turn taking - how the listener looks at the speaker and how the speaker often looks away - which is their way of saying it's still there go at speaking! Then in anatomy we started looking at cleft lips and palate - it's amazing to think just how easy it is for things to go wrong - yet the amount of times it doesn't is truly incredible. Reason no. 237 :)

Reason no. 236...

Just tried on my year 13 prom dress and it still fits!!! Yesssss! I was slightly worried that I'd have to go on a long shopping trip in an attempt of finding a new one- but no need for that! Plus, it's just encouraging to know I haven't put on loaaads of weight! Reason no. 236 :)
